Finally BTCL is Launching a Mobile SIM: Everything We Know So Far
Let's be honest, when I scrolled through Facebook for the last 3-4 days, every time one news popped up in front of me: BTCL MVNO SIM. I am waiting for few pieces of information; finally, I got the details, and here is the outcome. We have encountered numerous rumors regarding this SIM; however, BTCL (Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited) is now officially entering the mobile market with the launch of their SIM card.
If you are waiting for the cheapest alternative to Grameenphone, Robi, or Banglalink, I think this is good news for you.
Let's break down the BTCL MVNO Sim step by step.
Wait, BTCL is Making a SIM Card?
Yes! But it is not exactly a "new" SIM operator in the traditional sense.
They are trying to use MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) technology. Because if they tried to build new towers all over the country, it would take around 1 or 2 years, which is too late. So, they are renting Teletalk's existing network towers.
Then Why is Everyone Talking About It?
The main reason this is trending is not just for BTCL; it is trending for the insane prices they are promising. They are trying to target the unlimited market.
1. The Call Rate is Crazy Low
We usually pay 60 paisa to 1 Taka per minute on other operators. BTCL aims to slash that. By integrating with their Alaap App, call rates to other operators could be as low as 35 paisa per minute.
- Alaap to Alaap: Free.
- To other numbers: ~35 Paisa.
2. Data That is Actually Cheap
This is the part that got my attention. They are testing a promo offer: 1 GB of data for just 18 Taka. They also want to bring the "Broadband experience" to mobile. This means unlimited data packages where you don't have to count every megabyte. If you stream a lot of YouTube or Netflix on the go, this is huge.
3. "Triple Play" – More Than Just a SIM
BTCL isn't just selling SIM card; they are trying to build a digital ecosystem with their system. They call it "Triple Play" or "Quad Play." When you buy this connection, you aren't just getting a number. You might also get:
- Free OTT Subscriptions: Chorki, Hoichoi, or Bongo without paying extra.
- Smartphone Loans: They are planning a scheme to give smartphones on installments (around 500 Taka/month) so everyone can afford 4G.
The Big Question: When Can I Buy It?
According to the latest reports, the pilot launch is scheduled for February 8, 2026.
Since there is one consideration about the network coverage, because we all know about the Teletalk network coverage—maximum time we don't get network.
At last, competition is always good for us customers. If BTCL pulls this off, other operators will be forced to lower their prices too!
NOTICE
The provisioning call tests for BTCL’s MVNO SIM services covering voice calls, data calls, Alap-to-Mobile, Alap-to-Alap, and GPON integration were successfully completed on 08 February 2026.
Although certain media outlets reported that the SIM would be commercially launched on 15 February 2026, due to unavoidable circumstances, the final date for market release under the MVNO service piloting program has been rescheduled to 01 March 2026.
